Clemente, p. 1-8 Abstract: In this paper, we define the reoptimization variant of theclosest substring problem (CSP) under sequence addition.We show that, even with the additional information we haveabout the problem instance, the problem of finding a closestsubstring is still NP-hard. We investigate the combinatorialproperty of optimization problems called self-reducibility.We show that problems that are polynomial-time reducibleto self-reducible problems also exhibits the same property.We illustrate this in the context of CSP. The push towardsone globally connected community lead to having countrieswhich depend on one another, not just as governments butalso as businesses aiming to improve economic output. Thispaper concerns itself with identifying countries, being rep-resented by their main stock market indices, as agents de-termining each other's behaviour. We look at the behaviourof each index in a fixed time interval (1998-2014) and re-late it with the behaviour of other indices using correlation,network theory and transfer entropy. Pabico, p. 20-32] Abstract: Fish kill events (FKE) in the caldera lake of Taal occurrarely (only 0.5% in the last 10 years) but each eventhas a long-term effect on the environmental health ofthe lake ecosystem, as well as a devastating effect on thefinancial and emotional aspects of the residents whoselivelihood rely on aquaculture farming. Predicting withhigh accuracy when within seven days and where onthe vast expanse of the lake will FKEs strike will be avery important early warning tool for the lake's aqua-culture industry. Mathematical models to predict theoccurrences of FKEs developed by several studies donein the past use as predictors the physico-chemical char-acteristics of the lake water, as well as the meteoro-logical parameters above it. Some of the models, how-ever, did not provide acceptable predictive accuracy andenough early warning because they were developed withunbalanced binary data set, i.e., characterized by densenegative examples (no FKE) and highly sparse posi-tive examples (with FKE). Other models require set-ting up an expensive sensor network to measure thewater parameters not only at the surface but also atseveral depths. Presented in this paper is a systemfor capturing, measuring, and visualizing the contex-tual sentiment polarity (CSP) of dated and geolocatedsocial media microposts of residents within 10km radiusof the Taal Volcano crater (14◦N, 121◦E). High fre-quency negative CSP co-occur with FKE for two occa-sions making human expressions a viable non-physicalsensors for impending FKE to augment existing math-ematical models.;[Article Title: Multi-Campus Implementation of University Information Systems/ Jaime DL. Paje, p. 33-39] Abstract: The e-UP Project is one of the flagship projects of the University of the Philippines Administration. It is based on a 5-year plan geared towards the design, development and implementation of a seamless and integrated University-wide Information and Communication (ICT) system. A key component of the project is the implementation of several key university information systems such as Student Academic information System (SAIS), Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Financial Management Information system (FMIS), Supplies Procurement and Campus Management Information System (SPCMIS), and Executive Information System (EIS). The implementation will provide an environment conducive to the quality performance of the University's core functions. It will address the ICT needs of students, faculty and administrative staff as well as enable the University to render efficient administration through the integration of constituent universities and interoperability of all systems through shared databases, online document management, and appropriate ICT infrastructure. This paper reviews the implementation methodology and discusses the issues and challenges faced, as well as the lessons learned in implementing so many information systems in a multi-campus university system.
