This book has been written to provide a social researcher some guidelines which may be considered essential as well as practical. The purpose of this book is mainly to present a deductive approach to research starting with the theory and the concept of the research topic chosen as the focal points of the research activity.
This book may be found useful to both undergraduate and graduate students who will write thesis or dissertations, or for those who are carrying on research as a professional activity. However, no formal course alone can provide research competence, nor can any book present relevant and comprehensive information. The skill in the research process is attained through the combination of formal course work and actual experience reinforced by that genuine interest and unconditional commitment amidst the rigors of the research activity. While the focus of this book is on social research, a short but substantial portion is devoted to the more common and useful statistical methods and procedures of both parametric and nonparametric measurement with consideration on the various levels of measurement.
