Bridging the gap between electric circuits and electromagnetics, this text leads students from familiar concepts into more advanced topics and applications. Earlier and heavier emphasis on dynamics permits coverage of practical applications in communication systems, radar, optics, and solid-state computers. Coverage begins with transmission lines, a natural bridge between familiar circuits material and new electromagnetics material. Unlike other texts, relatively more time is spent on dynamics tha n statics, allowing coverage of applications of time-varying fields in the first semester. This text also covers optical fibres in wideband communication and optical imaging by mirrors and lenses.
