The influence of Islam in the Philippines can be traced from two cultural routes: Southeast Asia and the Iberian Peninsula. Muslim traders and missionaries came via the nearest Southeast Asian outpost, and eventually settled and systematically introduced a new culture to our ancestors in the Southern Philippines.
