Summary: The low reading proficiency level of our elementary pupils is no undeniable fact as far as problems in reading class is concerned. On this premise, the researcher as a reading teacher sought to find out the possible factors that affect the performance of pupils in reading. The result of this investigation will then be use as a basis for teaching strategies to be employed by the teachers to help improve the reading level of pupils.
