Summary: The first Boys town established in the Philippines is the MANILA BOYS' TOWN COMPLEX, established in 1947 during the term of the late Mayor Valeriano Fugoso to accommodate boys who were rendered homeless during the World War Il and found aimlessly roaming around the streets of Manila. Located in the Bilibid Vie jo Compound beside City Jail, the home was transferred to its present site in 1949 when the home was became too small to accommodate the increasing number of boys who needed institutionalization.
