The National University is founded in year 1900 by Teodoro Jhocson Ocampo located in M.F Jhocson St. Sampaloc, Manila in 2006; the SM Group of Companies acquired majority ownership of the National University. The all out support of the SM Group will help strengthen the National University as higher institution with new infrastructure, improved and upgraded laboratory, focused in academic excellence. An extension campus in a strategic location can be helpful to the university goals and achievements. Metro Manila probably is the center of excellence for education wherein prestigious universities and colleges are located in the vicinity of Metro Manila. Students in Cavite province usually decides to enroll in different universities found in Metro Maniia even if there are already established university schools in Cavite province, e.g. De LaSalle University Dasmarinas campus, Lyceum of the Philippines Trece Martirez campus and San Sebastian recoletos in Cavite City. It is noticed, that the enumerated campuses of higher education are located in different parts of Cavite province.
