This book is concerned with business builder's business. It provides an introduction to the accounting system in general and the builder's accounting system in particular. In the present highly competitive environment a builder must possess the necessary technical expertise- but even more, he must be a competent businessman. This, in turn, involves a combination of business and managerial skills as well as the necessary technical experience.
Modern business depends on effective communication and adequate information. It is the main purpose of accounting to provide the financial information which enables a businessman to operate profitably and also competitively. In addition, the accounting and costing systems should enable the builder to exercise control over the various aspects of his trade activity, with a view to increased efficiency.
