Summary: Sports in the Philippines are an important part of the country's culture. Filipinos have excelled in various internationally competitive games. The popularity of certain sports in the Philippines could be attributed to factors that made Filipinos go into these sports either as players or spectators. Among the factors include the nature of the sport itself. Accessibility to sports facilities plays a major role as well. This is one reason why basketball, volleyball, and billiards are more popular among Filipinos. In the Philippines, one can find a basketball court or goal in every conceivable side street or vacant lot. The same thing is true for billiards, as billiard halls are sprouting everywhere, especially after the high profile success of Filipino billiard players. The proposed project will be the first sports facilities dedicated to train professional and future athletes in Mindoro Province. Most of the sports facilities are designed only for training purposes except for the multipurpose indoor gymnasium that can be used as venue for sports and concerts. The project will also serve as a recreation facility and a tourist attraction for the city to provide revenue that can be used as a budget for the maintenance of the training facilities. This project is timely and relevant due to the recent 2016 Rio de Jainero Summer Olympics which the Philippines got its first silver and only medal since 1996 which gives inspiration to many Filipinos to become an athlete and represent the country in international arena and bring home the pride. The government is now prioritizing the improvement of Philippine sports by giving higher allowance for the athletes and higher incentives for athletes who can bring home a medal to entice more aspiring athletes to join the Philippine sports program.
