520			_a1980 book "Merv" that it would erase some of the negative feedback on this book. One person complained that Merv did not serve in WWII and doubted his 4F status. That has nothing to do with the validity or entertainment value of the book, and it is wrong. In his first book Merv revealed that in high school (which would have been 1941-43 since he was born in 1925) he was really obese. He was 5'9" and 240 pounds. He had been a butterball all his life. Being so overweight is one reason for being 4-F (it hurts US Army recruitment today). He only lost 80 pounds when Freddie Martin told him he had to. You can see in pictures of his last days that he lost his weight struggle. During the Korean War he was drafted and was told to report for induction. He did, and the officer in charge said they had a limit on taking people in his over 25 age group and to go home. That's not draft dodging.
